The main idea and purpose of this research project is to proof if slowing down the biological aging of human cells is possible by using using CRISPR as a genetic engineering tool to increase the expression of sirtuins. All of this, taking into account that the experiments made would only be a proof of concept and that further analysis and research would need to be done in order to verify the model.

Explaining the concept at a deeper level, sgRNAs would be designed for each sirtuin gene that needs to be targeted. Those would be put together in a complex with dCas9-VPR and transfected by lipofection to white blood human cells.

The results would be monitored and analyzed by measuring the level of methylation before and after the epigenetic modification made by CRISPRa.
